Why was Jesus Baptized?
Baptism is the backbone of every christian. The scripture says that,
"...Unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of god"
Baptism of man shows that he is buried with christ. Paul says that
"Therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father..."
Moreover, Romans 6 and Galatians 2:20 clearly explains about baptism. Also 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells the necessity of baptism for man.
Then what is the need for baptism to Jesus? Is he sinned? Is he baptized to remove his own sins?
In Hebrews 4, Romans 8, 2 Corinthians 5:21 says that Jesus never sinned. Then what is the actual reason for the baptism of Jesus?
The baptism of Jesus was clearly explained in Matthew 3 13-17, Luke 3 and John 1.
Paul says that,
The scripture says that, in order to make us clean, Christ who knew no sin, accepted all our sins. Therefore we may come to an conclusion that Jesus died for us. The Bible states that if a man commits sin he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven unless he is baptized.
In the above verse you notice that the word "taketh away" was in present tense. Therefore it is cleared that Jesus carried away all the sins of man in him. Also Romans 8:3 says the same, thus Jesus was baptized to clean out all the sins of man.
Another reason for Jesus to get baptized is to fulfill the father's will.

Which baptism did Jesus took?
ReplyDeleteJohn gave baptism of repentance (Acts 19:4). Since there is no need of repentance for Jesus, he took baptism for the fulfillment of justice and to do the will of father.
