Do 1 Kings 7:26 and 2 Chronicles 4:5 contradict?
1 Kings 7:26 and 2 Chronicles 4:5 contradiction is one of the most frequently asked question by most of the people. We can assure that the scripture has no contradiction and it is purely written by the Holy Ghost. We can solve all the biblical mysteries by the scripture itself.
Here 1 Kings 7:26 says that,
"And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths."
1 Kings 7:26
Also 2 Chronicles 4:5 says that,
"And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths."
2 Chronicles 4:5

Molten Sea |
Above two verses tells about the description of Molten Sea. What is Molten Sea?
The Molten Sea was a large basin in the Holy Temple made by King Solomon for ablution of the priests. The Sea was a metal basin 7.5 feet tall and 15 feet in diameter. It held 44,000 liters of water for the priests to wash in. It was supported by 12 oxen in sets of three, facing in each direction.
The contradiction is that in 1 Kings 7:26 scripture says that it contained 2000 baths but in 2 Chronicles 4:5 it says it held 3000 baths.
Actually there is no need of explanation for this. If you read the two verses again, 1 Kings 7:26 says that it contained 2000 baths, this means that the priests used to fill the Sea upto 2000 baths but the Sea has the capacity of storing 3000 baths which is mentioned at 2 Chronicles 4:5.
